This was a common part of the propaganda against independence at the time but for every article claiming Spain would block it, there was another article saying that Spain wouldn’t block it. I don’t think it makes much sense for Scotland to join the EU given the only country we have a land border with wouldn’t be in the EU, so border checks would be necessary which would be unpopular on both sides.
