Mostly this will be a school and DND machine but always nice to have a functional laptop for whatever else I may need it for.

Dude, everyone on this thread is talking about the rolling release nature of Arch being a risk with stability. You are pushing your point about a different thing (customization) and using it as an argument against the former. You are the one who is off topic here.
