Just now dropped my account, or at least the best I can do so, since there isn’t a cancel button. For many years, I never had to pay anything because I paid for it with my VPN/seedbox setup. Seeded that shit for 20 years. Some people donate, some people ratio. I’m fine with that.
I had bookmarks for certain series that would auto-download. Didn’t download as much as I used to, but I would still log in every month or so and grabbed a few things. The whole VPN/Deluge setup on a Raspberry Pi had its kinks, but I coded around it, fixed it, patched it, and restarted it when I needed to. Recently redid the OS for an major Debian upgrade.
About a year ago, all of the seeds broke and the domain changed to revott.me. They had a domain change before (was a .com), so I figured something happened and they had to change it again. Searched around and it looked legit, so I logged on.
Wasn’t just a domain change, but a complete management change. Lost all of their peers, and everybody had to manually re-point their seeds to the new domains. Pain in the ass. They had some yearly subscription model now, because there was a lot of frank talk about maintenance costs and ex-mgmt leaving them to hold the bag. Didn’t give a shit about the drama. It wasn’t terribly expensive for a yearly membership, so I paid for it.
Didn’t really think about it again until today when I wanted to grab something. New domain: revopeers.me now. Different layout, so I’m suspicious again. Login again to be greeted with just a membership page again. No access to torrents, despite the fact that my 300+ seeds are happily giving up the data.
Begging for money again with membership tiers and shady bullshit:
RevoPeers is a new platform — legacy membership time from GimmePeers or RevoTT does not carry over automatically.
So, I guess all of those people that bought the “Lifetime Founder Status” are scammed again, and have to spend more money for another Lifetime account, because it’s technically a different web site?
Situation got so bad that a /r/RevoTT site popped up from ex-members. Of course, that would involve me actually signing up for another shithole web site that I left years ago.
Such is the life of a pirate… morning is permanent and all good things will come to an end.
It’s always good to have alternatives and ensure you’re keeping up with them.
No clue wtf happened, but I too started down the rabbit hole and just decided to move on to another private tracker
