it only works if everyone is affected equally, in america people still have food, some are still paid highly enough not to do much, and people still have things like welfare, if govt strips that away there will definitely be mass unrest. republicans/dems still have those things plus a job. HK people enjoyed freedom from ccp rule for decades, but since ccp tried exert thier rule, the protests came out.
Our society has been designed so that taking even an hour off to vote or protest means no food on the table.
Could that with the critical mass who don’t give a shit and, well, yeah, no movement.
General strike just cannot happen because of that, so violent revolution is the only next step but even that is unlikely.

Nah, it will happen. All it takes is a spark when tensions are high enough (they aren’t yet).
