      Pirate -> Add to HTPC -> underwatched media to a jbod of old ass spinning HDDs -> unwatched/hard to find media to BluRay cold storage.

        Archival purposes. Movies and shows you watch often; games you’ve bought through GOG or Steam that you want to keep but don’t always want clunking around on a hard drive. I have an 8TB network drive that I throw more ephemeral files on. It also houses a bunch of ROMs.

          I hope you’re using archival quality optical media, because burned retail discs can have a lifespan as short as 10 years

        Maybe to save on storage space? Also, many people like to have their media on a physical disc, so that could also be why.

          Basically this. Archiving old games and things that you want to play but you don’t want them to constantly occupy hard drive space. I have an external 8TB drive connected to my router for other stuff I actively use.

            Yep, I agree. Im the same way. Especially with how these asshats are trying to kill off physical media and make everything digital so they can take it from you. Gotta try and preserve as much as we can.
