GENEVA, June 23 (Reuters) - Israeli authorities and security forces deliberately targeted Palestinian children, resulting in genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Gaza, and war crimes in the occupied West Bank, an independent U.N. inquiry said ‌on Tuesday.

The report by the U.N. Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel examined violations against Palestinian children since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas on October 7, 2023.

Around 30% of those killed in the Gaza war were children, the report found. A previous report by the commission in September found that Israel had committed genocide in Gaza and that top Israeli officials including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu incited these acts — accusations that Israel called scandalous.

The U.N. commission said that Palestinian children were deliberately targeted and killed during the war, including after a ceasefire came into effect in October 2025. It said this was a key element establishing genocidal intent by Israeli authorities and security forces to destroy the Palestinian group, in whole or in part, in Gaza.

I knew it, you knew it, everybody knew it. But governments around the world chose to look away. Even ICC prosecutors were targeted by strong powers to protect a few criminals and keep this behavior ongoing.

This is comparable to other dark moments in history, and the culprits are still free like nothing ever happened.

If they ever acknowledge it properly it will be after anyone that can be held accountable is dead.

More likely, it will be erased from history. The sad truth of many genocides is that they work and are forgotten.

Went to war with the wrong country. The US is the biggest state sponsor of terrorism since they used our money and weapons to do it. I believe Israel’s civilian fatality ratio is like 83%, which means 5 out of 6 people they kill are civilians. That is higher than Hamas, Hezbollah or whoever they claim the terrorists are.

The inquiry should be brought before the UN Security Council for discussion. Israel would be given a chance to defend itself against the accuser who would be required to appear.

Oh yes, in front of the security Council where the US will just veto the idea of punishing Israel for its crimes against humanity.

No, the only hope we have now to stop Israel is somehow Iran closing the straight until Israel stops invading Lebanon. What a horrible world we live in where Iran has somehow become a better force for good than the west, especially when they’re a heinous tyrannical regime.

Israel can let researchers and journalists into Gaza if they want to defend themselves. Weird how we’re months into a ceasefire but nobody is allowed to see what’s going on in Gaza.

Don’t bother, panthera is a troll regarding the genocide. Best to just downvote and move on or block them so there’s literally zero engagement

Lol no. The SC is not the forum for this. The ICJ in the trial for South Africa’s genocide accusation on the other hand might want to hear how its provisional measures order has been respected by the Israeli apartheid regime.
