It’s not just New Zealand. The Democracy Perception Index just came out for 2026 and the US is seen as the largest threat worldwide, a very significant swing from last year. I just watched a Mallen Baker video on the subject.

Ask Canada… no doubt the same.

China is sly and utilitarian. The US is stupid and evil. Both are dangerous as opponents, one is obviously more dangerous than the other.

That’s because China is at least consistent with their evil (and final warnings etc), the US is unreliable or capricious: that’s a bigger threat.

The Nazis more of a threat? Say it ain’t so… ;)
