Japan will do anything but address the root issue of their toxic work culture. How do they expect anyone to have and raise a family with the economy as it is while they continue to normalize and allow companies to exploit their workers.

Underpaying, “encouraging” working extra hours (for free) to show “dedication”, nomikai (see: more forced work hours, unpayed)…

A middle class Japanese person will work 10-14 hours a day, get paid for 8 of them, and then be “encouraged” to spend 2-3 hours a night a couple nights a week “bonding” with coworkers and drinking (see: spending their money, on work)… neverminding all economics of it all, how, more importantly WHEN, tf is anyone meant to have personal time to themselves to meet, date, have a relationship? Let alone raise a kid.

The answer is simple. They expect the women to do all the raising and give up their career. There is a lot of pressure for this. Women don’t really agree with this, and an increasing number of women choose to not marry and not have children so they’re not pressured into that path. Of course, a dating app will not help much with that.

If you keep up on the news in the last few years, they actually have been addressing that. It’s just too little, way too late.
