Pakistan said it launched strikes on seven militant sites inside Afghanistan in a "retributive response” to recent suicide attacks it said were carried out by Afghan-based extremists, as tensions escalated between the two South Asian neighbors.

Afghanistan’s Taliban rulers said they are preparing “an appropriate and calculated response” to Pakistani air strikes that killed at least 18 people in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces.

    Ultimately just having Khyber Pakhtunkhwa fully secure is the militaries goal. Pakistan’s Military does not really care who rules Afghanistan, just don’t let terror groups that attack Pakistan free range to work there.
