There are instances that federate together as a single sort of entity.

So, are there other entities? Meaning, is there a group of Lemmy instances somewhere outside of the existing ones we see here?

And, how do I get there, and which one don’t have people from the USA?

      Imagine a Venn diagram. The circles represent instances. They overlap. That’s where we are now, piefed.ca and quokk.au existing in an overlapping circle.

      I want to find another sheet of paper with an entirely different diagram.

        I don’t think that exists, but you might be interested in what Bonfire calls “archipelago mode”. It’s where instead of open federation being the default, an instance deliberately federates with selected other instances, which can result in a small group of instances cut off from the rest.

          That runs the risk of being an echo chamber.

          I’m fine with opposing views, I just want those to be from people outside the 3 major countries.
