He means more to me than I thought.
I was raised in an abusive home, and Star Trek TNG was one of my few escapes. I remember wanting to be like Captain Picard when I grew up. Confident, kind, direct, capable, and loving.
I don’t know if I’m there yet. But I’m trying.

I once heard Jean Claude Van Damme say that he was always tried to be kind and respectful to fans, no matter how tired or annoyed he was, because there were people who’d been looking up to him all their lives.
There are a lot of people who have looked up to Picard for all their lives.
