Are they seriously allowed to basically set up ad agents for their favored or any company cold selling shit and adding to the already unbearable noise in the lobby which they also moved their office to a shared wall with my apartment?
They have demanded above guideline rent increades for the past 2-3 years besides moving their office from the end of the hall to an adjoing wall making it all the more hellish. Do they seriously just get to capitalism-amok all over my ass until i fulky qualify for the (criminal) insane asylum
I may ask more topical questions on this theme as i desperately need to get the hell out of this first floor nightmare apartment , they have a proper same stats apartment in one of the 2 actually quiet buildings, mine is a nightmare central office shithole. :(
an apartment in a quieter building to transfer to. They want to hold me hostage and demand current market rates + extras for them making it more hellish and as leverage to make me need to feel the need to escape this shit.
My living room which is over half the apartment is unusable and its stressing the fuck out of me

Depending on where you live, there may be minimum code requirements for sound isolation between residential units and their adjacencies. In the US, for example, many municipalities have adopted some or all of a version of International Building Code that has requirements for airborne and impact sound insulation around residential units. Determining whether the demising assemblies meet code requirements requires hiring an acoustical consultant and therefore can be eyewateringly expensive, but gives you some pretty solid ground on which to take action against your landlord. The risk here is that you drop the coin to test and turns out that the assembly meets the code minimums and you’re back to where you started minus several thousand dollars.
There may also be a noise ordinance that you could rely on. Best case is there are quantative limits that you could test against, slightly less preferred would be a qualitative ordinance. If your municipality actually enforces the ordinance, you should be in good shape, otherwise you may need an acoustician, a lawyer, or both.
