6·3 months agoAlso, do you NEED the Nvidia drivers? Are you gaming and trying to squeeze every last bit or is it just a display output? Cause if it’s the latter the open source nouveau drivers will work just fine with that card.
Intel based ones, foldable laptops like the Yoga, x220i, Framework 12, etc…
Debian, but it doesn’t really matter.
I played with it but not as a daily driver. Being as I’m Debian based in the first place it was a nice experience for me and easy to tinker with. But Postmarket might be a little more efficient with resources overall. One way or another I really like Posh, and also use GNOME on other tablet devices an I like the touch experience overall.
GNOME Boxes is ok, but rather limited. I suggest you give
virt-managera look!

1·4 months agoOne thing I didn’t mention is that VoLTE requirements will make this harder than it used to be. I’m not sure there are any usb modems that would work with mod_gsmopen that support it. I found some cheapish GSM<>VoIP gateway on AliExpress but the only support GSM, so they are useless in North America.
It’s doable by hosting your own Asterisk or FreeSWITCH. You can accomplish this in FreeSWITCH using a GSM/LTE modem and the mod_gsmopen module. FreeSWITCH can also be used as an IMS provider for VoLTE, but that’s way too involved and probably not attainable for a home gamer. In Asterisk (or also an option for FreeSWITCH) I believe you will need an GSM to SIP Gateway which is going to be a bigger investment in terms of hardware as they tend to be rather specialized.
I know you said you’d pefer the physical sim option so you can pay chash, which is valid. But also have a look at https://jmp.chat/ service, they are good people. They provide a SMS enabled gateway you can connect to with XMPP and specifically support multiple recipients.
Does Evolution not do that? Thunderbird might as well, not sure.

Friend, I’m gonna give it to you straight and simple, cause I’ve been there… that sounds like burn out. You need to a) figure out a way to take a medical leave b) seek professional mental help (even just meds to get you up and running so you can seek more long term help). If you absolutely cannot do the former, you have to do your quiet quitting while you seek help, so you can land on your feet when the inevitable happens.
