The answer is always OpenSuse.
Kidding. Stick with what you know works.
But seriously: OpenSuse.
Just joking.
Not.

Why calculate?
While 1200 might be noon for one, another might just get used to 0800 to be noon. Who says 0000 must be midnight and 1200 noon?
Zypper could use some love, though it isn’t bad by any means. But Flatpak does make a huge difference for sure.
I’m good. But thank you for the tip.
Just posted the video, because I like that she’s quite balanced in her views. The subject matter will always trigger a level of controversy, esp. on lemmy. But the advice is pretty solid.
And if Mint isn’t the answer, go with Ubuntu. Or Zorin OS. Or PopOS. All of them are “right” and provide excellent beginner experiences for many people.

What would you like to achieve? Would OpenSnitch be of assistance?

Ubuntu as well. I wish I could say OpenSuse…

I agree. OpenSuse should set the standards in this.
Tbf, they really need a designer to upgrade this visually a bit. It exudes its strong “Sys Admin only” vibes a bit much. In my opinion. 🙂

Not really related to the issue. If I understand correctly, your device isn’t bricked, but freezes. A bricked device doesn’t boot anymore, a frozen device is unresponsive. Or am I misunderstanding this?

One might argue that people preferng to be alone is a symptom of the problem - if the motivation is to avoid stress and frustration.
On the other hand, if being alone is used in a balanced way as a form of self-care in a noisy world that demands so much of us, it can be healthy.
In the end, I would say, it all depends on whether this solitude feels empowering or isolating.
…or Humble Bundle if they offer the actual software download.
Not if they just offer Steam keys.
In my opinion.

Set off both journalctl -qu gnome-shell and journalctl -qu gnome-settings-daemon. Both return nothing.
In case you don’t know this one yet:
This has been mentioned a few times here. Didn’t know that. Thank you.
This “Beginners Guide” they have there is a serious turnoff. They might want to consider a more lightweight and friendly intro to their software. 😄
Still, if I find the time to go through this massive wall of text, I will.
That’s my struggle with this solution as well.
Still, a solid choice.
Not for the faint of heart, but I’ll keep it in mind.
I have bad news for you.
