You know those days when the birds all seem to disappear? It’s Hermes driving them all to hide. Good job!
Awwwww… oooh. Yeah, one of the few demons I never minded when it came to visit. Mine lasted for 16 years and is now a decade gone. Still miss the fluffy little girl fiercely.

Musk stated not too long ago, he felt empathy was a weakness of western society.
So… too bad for Tesla. Oh well.
What does that make Frankenstein?

When I was a kid in the Bay Area in California in the 70’s there were dairires that made ice milk and it was like vanilla and chocolate sherbet. I know the texture you are talking about, and yeah, it’s delightful and smooth.

…Were they sold into the idea that when the company is making lots more money it can do lots more good with it?
This. I remember the PR that came out at the time.

More to the point, in America, the USDA regulations allow for hard pack ice cream to have up to 40% of its volume expanded with air.
WAAaaaay back in the early 2000’s after Unilever bought them, I bought a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Vanilla ice cream and got home and it sat on the counter and melted - much to my dismay - (It ended up under a towel and did not get put away.)
When I opened it, the level of ice cream in the container had dropped down by almost a quarter. What the hell? So I got another pint and at that time noticed that it was easier to scoop - a sign that there’s air being incorporated.
Yeah… nope. Done.
Haven’t bought Ben & Jerry’s in over 20 years. (besides, there’s a real homemade ice cream shop around the corner from my home - it’s what I get now and I support the woman that runs it.)
Flying fish? Am in!
I see you’ve dealt with comcast…
A 56 y/o half-brother that I would do almost anything for and a step-sister that… well… whatever.

This is it exactly.
And I kind of like that there are no total upvote/downvote stats tied to our accounts.
Prevents karma farming so it disinclines the behavior to rage-bait or post controversial items for attention.
(Remember u/unidan? Guy karma farmed hugely and eventually got rumbled creating some brouhaha over the difference between crows and jackdaws. Absolute stupidity that got the better of him…)
The content is more the focus here…

The weird thing is apparently, I wasn’t allowed to delete my account last night. I thought I did, but I went back not too long ago and on a lark, signed in again. Account’s empty of all my unarchived posts - since I deleted it all, but I still have access. Think I’m going to see if the PM’s work and just start hoovering interesting articles and items from there. WTF, it’s not like I didn’t bring content to the site… Gonna take the best of it back and bring it here. Fuck it.

I was a 14 years long redditor that was more into the arts and graphics and from the time of the IPO, my feed pivoted to much more rage-bait content and subs appearing on my homepage that were completely unknown to me. Definitely some site-wide fuckery going on, that’s changed the nature of that beast. Moreso now since they have corporate investors and within the last week or so, a whole bunch of bad reports about the data not being used for AI training as much as they hyped it up. Methinks they’re pivoting to the right in order to appease their investors…

AI, maybe, but upheld by a person upon appeal.
I honestly think those appeal responses are bullshit and no one is actually reading them. Maybe paid members will have their appeals looked at but I doubt anyone else does.

That is what happened to me… the bots banned me within a minute for a metaphorically based - though salty - post. 14 years.
Thing is, I noticed a change in the algorithm not too long after the IPO since my homepage started in with more rage-bait subs and many were ones I’d not visited or even heard of. It was subtle but also kinda disheartening. I decided to manually delete all of what I could and as I was going through the posts I noticed that the art subs I used to go to had all but disappeared on my home page.
I used to go to photoshopbattles all the time and as I was scrolling my home pages, it was nowhere to be seen. Nor was AppleHelp, VintageApple or MacPro…

Delete all your Reddit bookmarks and favorites and find a lemmy community to launch yourself into. I picked gaming and a few news ones and so far, it’s fine… Even moreso that I found the old.lemmy.zip page and it’s comfortable to me as I was dedicated to old.reddit and RES.
LOL! Typical!
You have my condolences.
