2·7 days agoWell, it does require some preliminary IT knowledge, but as far as IT skills go I’d say it’s one of the more basic systems.
It runs on the system you install it in, all containers do is isolate the software to a controlled environment so it doesn’t directly use your system packages.
The advantage in terms of migration is that you can just have a directory with a compose file and your configuration directories and that can be moved to any system
If memory serves TechHut did a pretty good docker introduction video a few years ago.
This is why I switched to docker for my media server stack, it makes it far more portable.
