I was a kid in 6th grade the last time I spoke any significant amount of German while attending Internationale Gesamtschule Heidelberg. With nobody to speak in German with since then, I have forgotten too much of it in the roughly 45 years since to hold even a minimal conversation. I worked at a restaurant chain when I was a teen named Friendly’s (still around, but seemingly nowhere as big as it once was), and their big thing was the wide array of ice cream-based desserts. Among other toppings (such as hot fudge, marshmallow, and other sauces) was a peanut butter sauce that arrived in a gallon tub. When one opened it, they would find the oil had separated and was floating on top of this thick, semi-hardened dry sludge that was the rest of the PB. We had to mix it back up manually, and it had to be done thoroughly in order for it to work when put through the hand pump dispenser used to pour it onto desserts.

Yeah, I was never all that into PB anymore after that job.

No, but they are close enough to that to be having economic effects upon Taiwan by reducing the number of potential trading partners willing to risk inviting China’s wrath. Ship captains would likely rather avoid a run-in with China’s Navy.

One could argue China is right on the borderline of effectively doing that, likely scaring off some trading partners and thereby causing economic impacts - albeit significantly less severe than those currently experienced by Cuba.

Taiwan brings major economic (and other) benefits to its “supporting” countries via its technological exports & is thus too important to allow to fall into China’s hands if it can be avoided.

The USA capitalist system effectively worships money more than God. It’s not a conspiracy theory so much as a not unwarranted suspicion about for-profit drug companies’ likely motivations and priorities. The only thing potentially keeping that at bay is the threat of someone else disrupting their cash flow with an actual cure - although that doesn’t prevent them from burying cures they find themselves unless it benefits them, or significantly disadvantages a major competitor.

If we’re talking Adderall/amphetamine salts, I personally don’t understand why it’s called “addictive.” When my insurance has lapsed, and I can’t get to a doctor to write the next month’s prescription, I have stopped cold turkey to preserve what I have for days I might really need to be on the ball (think job interviews or similar) with no symptoms of any kind of withdrawal (outside of being more lethargic/unmotivated and easily distracted as is my natural state).

I can understand considering it a problem that the effect weakens - requiring more of it to have as strong an effect as when you first took it, but that’s NOT the same as an “addiction” as far as I’m concerned - I have no overwhelming need for it, which is probably why people can forget to take them. I do find that being off of it for a while gives the first few times back on it a slightly stronger effect than it had been having when I stopped, although nothing is ever “as good as the first time.”

Playing them ain’t much of a problem. One that can also subscribe to and keep reliable, up-to-date, well-organized channel lists has been for me, which is part of why I don’t bother with IPTV very often.
