consistent view with Jesus Christ as a reformer (of Old Testament), that Constantine broke in 390ad by declaring that god and jesus were of the same matter. Entirely for warmongering purposes, and heresy laws to kill everyone who thought Jesus could be a humanist superhero sent by god. The church/Charlemagne would later erase your conscience/internal devotion to god/jesus in 1000ad by declaring that holy spirit was also part of same matter single trinity, and so giving the church authority over your conscience. Crusades and dark ages would follow.

Luther/Protestants made a big deal that all of this was bs mistranslation of latin version of bible, which original greek version contradicted, and simultaneously the core of the protestant movement, but in the end, fully adopting the trinity as the most church empowering formula of god commanding you to follow Emperor’s murder and theft decrees.

Most constructive act Pope could do is declare those early corruptions of Jesus/conscience/humanism by the Church, invalid acts of warmongering (Constantine sat in pope’s chair for debate to erase Jesus for war). The corruption means that Judaism and Christianity are identical, because it is “thou shalt steal with the divine right to murder those who deserve murder according to your god chosen ruler’s schizophrenic or mendacious power maximizing internal dialogue”

Are we absolutely sure that this guy has a direct line of communication with god?

Maybe we can find some other folks with a direct line and validate this.

Pope Leo XIV rejects claims that God justifies war

Not sure what was expected here. The Pope hasn’t sanctified any war since the Crusades. Mores probably changed a little bit since then.

Francis beatified Junipero Serra (among others), so that’s a huge minus in my book. But I guess the bar is in the toilet.

Also, don’t anyone else feel statements like these are hugely hypocritical? The catholic church has benefited from the waging of war against non-christians for most of it’s history to the point previous churchmen has created entire theologies of justified war. Now when they lead a great population of followers they can pretend to be peace loving hippies.

Remember, the last time a people had catholicism forced on them as the consequence of war was when Chile conquered the Mapuche in 1883 and placed them in reservations and worked to convert them.

That’s like saying that people denouncing violence should be quiet because their grandparents fought in WW2. This Pope can’t change the crusades or the Spanish inquisition, but he can make a difference now. I’m no fan of the Church, but I appreciate his words.

You can’t really compare the Vatican to WW2. But if you did, imagine if the axis powers still existed and got to keep most of their territories while telling their neighbours they just wanted peace but also promoting their generals and crimes as heroic and necessary.

This applies to all 3 major axis powers

promoting their generals and crimes as heroic and necessary.

            This applies to Japan

None of the axis powers exists.

              This applies to Japan

And they are widely criticised, like they should be.

None of the axis powers exists.

By that metric neither does the pre Vatican II church before 1965

And they are widely criticised, like they should be.

I agree. But they absolutely exist and do the thing that you said nobody does.

Once again, you can’t really compare these two. Especially since all the modern countries that descend from the axis powers relinquished the territories they conquered and have often even payed compensations to their former victims.

By that metric neither does the pre Vatican II church before 1965

I am not to comment on that more than: that comparison doesn’t make sense.

                  But they absolutely exist

                  Not really.

and do the thing that you said nobody does.

What did I say nobody does?

No. It’s hypocritical if Popes actually speak on behalf of God, but not in general. Yes, previous Popes have said the opposite, but not this one. He isn’t being a hypocrite. He maybe should call out the bad history that his faith has though. This honesty could really go a long way to change people’s opinion on Catholicism too I think. Most people I know recognize how fucked up it’s been (and still is).

Yes, previous Popes have said the opposite, but not this one

He will still promote many of their previous campaigns and the individuals perpetrating them as necessary or good.

Most people I know recognize how fucked up it’s been (and still is).

I disagree. I have been reading up on the Spanish mission system and have multiple times been shocked by how even secular progressives will whitewash the missions to the end of the earth.

Not to be that guy, but are there any catholic leaders in the epstein files? It doesn’t matter which side you’re on to create a distraction and most of the followers of the church are on the lack of power side.

I believe the catholics had their own independent system running parallel to Epstein’s. It was already well established before Epstein started.

Surprisingly not (from what is accessible). I guess Epstein wasn’t really the religious type, and also that he was Jewish.

The special white cap is a receiver. Sometimes, though, he needs to don a much larger hat in order to get better reception.

When the Pope tilts his head while wearing the Mitre (the big one), it acts like a directional yagi antenna. This is also why churches use “sacred geometry”; which is really just a clever method of improving reception of divine wideband.

The (real) gold thread on his hat isn’t just to make it look fancy, it’s sophisticated circuitry! When the Pope tilts his head in prayer, he’s actually calibrating the tilt sensor to minimize packet loss.

Only in matters of faith and morals, only when speaking “ex cathedra”, and only when defining a matter for the whole Church. If the Pope says the sky is greeen one day, Catholics everywhere should start asking when the Pope last took his meds, and not claiming that the sky is green.

To my knowledge, these conditions have only been met a few times in Church history.

Sometimes I wonder if the church missed the Reform: your JC doesn’t justify war, maybe, but the crazies doing massacres on a whim are protestants (if not Zionist Jews) and their flavor of JC not only justifies it, but even requires a sacrifice of empowered Israeli for the Second Coming to happen.

These statements have no weight. Typical priests.
